UntitledBobby Genovese’s BG Vero Beach Polo Club hosted its inaugural “Pony Up” fundraiser on Saturday February 21 to benefit Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast, provider of therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults affected by conditions affecting muscles and speech.

“To a child or adult with a physical, developmental or emotional disability, life looks a lot brighter on horseback,” said Program Director Volunteer Vicki Penley. “The power and warmth of a horse strengthens and tones muscles, improves balance, head control and coordination, builds patience and self-esteem, and offers a sense of freedom and equality.”

Since 1992, the Vero Beach 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization has provided therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults who are challenged by Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Spina Bifida, Strokes, Diabetes, and other conditions affecting muscles and speech.

Saturday’s fundraising celebration featured authentic Argentine BBQ by Ocean Grill polo team members, a polo foot mallet competition and 50/50 Raffle for VIP BG Polo Tailgate experience, silent auction and music.

“We could not be more honored or humbled to support this amazing organization and the hundreds of adults and children they help through their selfless service and commitment,” said BG Vero Beach Polo Club and BG Capital Group Chairman Bobby Genovese. “Their work should be applauded and supported at every turn and we will do everything possible to make that happen. It is our good fortune to be their neighbor.”

Genovese’s BG Polo includes five polo and equestrian teaching and competition centers in Vero Beach, Ocala and Davie Florida, Toronto, Ontario, and Pilar, Argentina.

BG Polo & Equestrian Club is located at 7700 8th Street, Vero Beach FL 32968. For more information about contact Equestrian Director Patta Conboy at 772-766-0027 or email: patta@bgsignature.com

Signaling Vero Beach’s return to the national polo circuit Bobby Genovese’s BG Vero Beach Polo Club will begin hosting weekly professional level match games starting on Sunday, February 8, 2015through to Sunday, April 19, 2015.

Matches will be played at the Polo Grounds on 12th Street in Vero Beach, the upscale polo equestrian community in Florida that was once home to the Vero Beach Polo Club, as per an agreement reached this week between Bobby Genovese and the Polo Ground’s Property Owner’s Association President Joseph Semprevivo.

“The residents of the Polo Grounds are proud to host BG Polo and Equestrian as they introduce the Vero Beach Polo Club this winter,” said Semprevivo. “We are looking forward to exciting polo matches and showcasing our beautiful community.”

Practice sessions have already begun and will continue on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Exhibition games will be structured to entertain both the public and to satisfy playing members. In addition, a pony league has been developed for children and families that will include both practice sessions and match play.

“We are honored to join the horse community in Vero Beach as we expand our equestrian endeavors and long standing commitment to the game of polo both here in Vero Beach and around the world,” said BG Vero Beach Polo’s Bobby Genovese of his polo interests that include five polo and equestrian teaching and competition centers in Vero Beach, Ocala and Davie Florida, Toronto, Ontario, and Pilar, Argentina. The collection is part of BG Signature, Genovese’s privately-curated collection of luxury destinations that include private estates in the United States, Canada, Bahamas, England and Argentina. Two private yachts and a jet complete the collection in addition to a new luxury yacht charter division launching this year.

“It is our goal to invest in both youth and adult equine programs, with the spotlight being on our upcoming professional polo school. We invite everyone to come out and explore these exciting new horsemanship options that will now be available here in Vero Beach.”

In September 2014, Genovese’s BG Signature Group launched BG Polo & Equestrian Vero Beach after purchasing the former Atlantic Crossings Equestrian facility. The premier 36-acre equestrian compound located just south of the Polo grounds at Pointe West is known for its long list of amenities including multi-use arenas, three barns, individual turnout paddocks, clubhouse and an 11 acre polo stick and ball field. The following month, Genovese launched his new polo school led by veteran polo player and British Open Finalist Max Secunda as Head Coach while Patta Sloan Conboy oversees all of the facility’s programs as Equestrian Director along with Barn Manager Kelly Rigsby-Quam.

“The opportunity could not be a more perfect fit,” said Secunda, who coached the East Coast team in the US Polo Association National Touring tournament series finals in San Diego, California and is poised to become one of the first USPA certified coaches in the nation.

“I have no doubt that Max will succeed in his role with the BG polo group,” said long time Vero Beach resident, polo enthusiast and creator of America’s Most Wanted, John Walsh. “Max has taught both me and my sons competitive play. This is such a natural evolution for Max, and I wholeheartedly support his endeavor as mentor and coach to a whole new generation of players.”

Genovese agreed, adding, “Max’s presence and the club’s new ownership signals a resurgence of polo on the Treasure Coast and a much needed facility for local equestrians in multiple disciplines such as Hunter/Jumper, Polo, Dressage, a Youth Polo program and more. Our goal is to be the number one polo and equestrian facility in the area and local leader in education, training and event programs.”

Over $13 Million Raised for SickKids

648 504 BG Signature

TORONTO, Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — This year’s 2nd Annual Boat Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup raised more than $800,000 last month in support of the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) – Canada’s largest and most sophisticated centre for pediatric cancer research, treatment and care, announced Rally Chairman Bobby Genovese.

“As event chair for the second year, I’m so proud of the amount of money we raised to provide much needed resources and support to pediatric cancer initiatives,” said Genovese, Chairman BG Capital Group and BG Signature Properties. “Our efforts will help the spectrum of what’s needed — from groundbreaking research and treatment to practical advancements like ‘chemotherapy backpacks’ that free young patients from confining hospital stays.”

Staged on the waters of Lake Joseph and Lake Rosseau in the Muskokas, the Boat Rally is a continuation of the extremely successful Car Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup, which began in 2008, raising more than $13 million for SickKids, which Genovese also chairs. This year’s rally, which is nearly sold out, will be held in Toronto on September 19 and 20, 2014.

“The support that SickKids receives from the Boat Rally makes it possible to be a world-leader in child health research and care,” saysTed Garrard president and CEO, SickKids Foundation. “More specifically, contributions from these rallies help fund important innovations in cancer research that will translate into new treatments for children who currently battle cancer as well as those yet to be diagnosed.”

The day was marked by a “treasure map” of clues and riddles that rally participants followed from one lakefront cottage to the next before enjoying the evening’s gala BBQ dinner, live auction, awards ceremony and award-winning entertainment by Eric Lee Beddingfield and Tony Arata at Rocky Crest. Celebrity navigators included:  Actor Billy Baldwin (Parenthood, Backdraft); Actress  Catherine O’Hara (SCTV, Home Alone); NHL Alumni Gary Leeman; Actor Harry Hamlin; 2x Olympic Gold Medalist Bobsledder Heather Moyse; Actress Julie Benz (Defiance, Dexter); FISH TV Host Leo Stakos; Actress Lisa Rinna; NHL Alumni Marty McSorley and Mike Krushelnyski; and NHL Montreal Canadians, Norris Trophy Winner P.K. Subban, and others.

“It is our hope to not only increase awareness of the cause but to continue to raise much needed funds to help children in their fight against cancer,” said Joel Hock, founder of the Rally for Kids with Cancer Foundation. “This is a testament to what can be done when philanthropic individuals unite with one shared vision: the health and well-being of our children.”

Cancer is the most common cause of disease-related death among Canadian children. Treating approximately 360 new cancer patients each year SickKids is renowned for its world-class patient care, research, education and advocacy. Through donor support, SickKids has become a charity that strategically invests in research and training programs that have the potential to improve the health of children across Canada and around the world.
